Caring for your Mellanni sheets is straightforward, and with the right routine you will keep them soft, bright, and in great shape for years. Microfiber has a few quirks worth knowing — it attracts lint from other fabrics, and high heat can permanently damage the fibers — but follow the steps below and your sheets will actually get softer with every wash.Documentation Index

Wash cycle
Sort your laundry
Wash your Mellanni sheets separately from other fabrics, or with similar microfiber items. Microfiber attracts lint from cotton towels, fleece, and other textiles, and washing them together leaves lint on your sheets.
Load the machine
Place the sheets loosely in the drum. Avoid overpacking — sheets need room to move so water and detergent can rinse through completely.
Select cold water
Set your machine to a cold water cycle. Cold water cleans effectively, protects the fibers, and helps colors stay vibrant. Hot water can set stains and degrade microfiber over time.
Add detergent — no fabric softener
Use a standard laundry detergent. Do not add fabric softener. On microfiber, softener coats the fibers and reduces their moisture-wicking performance; over time it also makes the fabric feel less soft, not more.
Stain treatment
Treat stains as soon as they happen — the faster you act, the easier the stain is to remove. Blot (do not rub) the stain with cold water and a small amount of detergent. Avoid hot water, which can set protein-based stains like blood or sweat permanently into the fabric.Quick-reference guide

Storage
Store your sheets clean and fully dry in a cool, dry place. Storing them while even slightly damp can lead to mildew. The zippered bag included with your Mellanni set works well for keeping a spare set organized and dust-free.Do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets on microfiber. Softeners leave a coating on the fibers that reduces their moisture-wicking properties and, despite the name, makes the fabric feel less soft over repeated washes.
